解疑 | Questions Answered
在《贤愚经》或《本师传》等经论中,时常有描述帝释天为了考察释迦牟尼佛的发心,在8 O$ s4 b& Q- \5 B" U0 q
其行布施时作大违缘的情节。有人对此表示疑惑,为何帝释天要如此为难释迦牟尼佛呢?1 D3 x. m2 E7 u2 Y& r- ~
In The Sutra of the Wise and the Fool, the Great Biography of Buddha Shakyamuni, or other
+ C" e' g+ {6 N) ]( a3 k/ N8 Escriptures, there are many stories about how the god Indra, in order to test the sincerity of, L; \! @: M7 Q+ j' x- d2 J( L
Buddha’s aspiration, purposely created havoc while the Buddha was practicing the paramita of  m8 d; j! l# _" B1 V
generosity. It puzzles many people: Why should Indra make so much trouble for the Buddha?
( b/ d) K$ B( ~9 h4 i5 {3 `" f其实,这是因帝释天的发愿力所致,在释迦牟尼佛初行菩萨道时,为了释迦牟尼佛能迅速$ `0 F. T) x# Q3 D  \( b: v6 {
圆满资粮,帝释天与提婆达多一样发愿成为佛陀布施忍辱的殊胜对境。因布施其他东西相1 y4 |: r* w" z2 ]. B1 m
对而言比较容易做到,但布施身体的却寥若晨星。如果不如此示现,世人也难以了知佛陀
$ l; m0 I1 J+ s4 @的伟大之处。
0 d9 n  v8 N# ]1 jAs a matter of fact, this came about as a result of Indra’s power of aspiration. When the Buddha
. J3 W0 d6 V  F! W0 awas on the Bodhisattva path, Indra, like Devadatta, made vows to help the Buddha accumulate# t7 b- t( W8 h" o5 M% y; z. h
merits swiftly. To do so they manifested in various forms toward which the Buddha would
3 b7 F0 I- E4 p  p1 J, ?1 Y5 Epractice his patience or make body offerings. The deed of offering one’s own body, unlike a
% E; X7 V- ~' S3 ymaterial offering that is relatively easy, has been achieved only as rarely as one sees stars in the2 J5 ^$ ~' k0 Z6 }7 |9 L
daytime. However, without such a dramatic offering on the part of the Buddha, worldly people
' m1 ~; x6 C! Y& Cwould not come to appreciate his extraordinary qualities.
2 X9 r8 S9 E$ A0 w又有人提出,为何佛陀时常在行布施时,为了圆满资粮,而将妻子、儿女布施与吃人罗刹
) U- n1 u; {' a1 J2 `: `,这样是否危害了其他众生呢?$ Y4 K* j! [  k/ I/ q/ }9 k
Others raise the question: The Buddha often offered his own wife and children to flesh-eating6 ]( i' [5 t* f7 n% N
rakshas in order to perfect the accumulation of merit. Aren’t such acts harmful to other beings?
& I9 I2 H7 K' K! p3 K% B# \首先,佛陀的这一做法,只会圆满妻子、儿女的资粮,而不会对其造成伤害。其次,这一
& [8 R8 a! i0 n) @做法的发心非为自利,而是为了早日成佛,挽救处于水深火热之中的广大有情,没有丝毫- T7 c( H* z  l( `0 u2 m, @
的自私自利心。《入菩萨行论》中说:“经说行施时,可舍微细戒。”又说:“勿因小失
' V$ H  p* x# u* ]; |- }! J% Q  G" f) ^大,大处思利他。”在具有殊胜发心的前提下,可以开许身语之不善业,《观察三增上品0 Y' _( b  y# W7 {3 {
》中云:“于大菩萨开许七种不善。”《大密方便经》中也有类似教证。
! E+ c' T6 l$ r- a$ f: t. {$ |To begin with, the Buddha’s activity could only bring tremendous merit to his wife and children;
8 D& J4 {! y3 I& \$ |! _. ?9 l! ]. ithere was no harm to them. Furthermore, his motivation was not in self-interest. It was wishing
# H6 c) p) ~. f7 Y& {* H3 Efor swift enlightenment in order to liberate multitudes of beings from dire suffering. There was& F, D  d1 P1 g0 N! I8 p  A* _
neither a single trace of selfishness nor the tiniest bit of self-serving. A Guide to Bodhisattva’s
/ m1 |5 R4 N5 PWay of Life says: “For it is taught that in times of generosity, the rules of discipline may be' K" u/ h6 P* F  ^0 {
suspended,” and: “The great should not be supplanted by the less, and it is others’ good that is
, K( P4 W3 ^9 K0 dthe highest goal.” Hence there are times a Bodhisattva is permitted to actually commit harmful
* \( h* [5 m% p) Z# P7 J0 }" vacts of body and speech, provided the intention is pure bodhichitta. The Chapter on the Three
* G4 }6 o1 m3 T; j8 b* [) w- O  |Increasing Activities says: “The Bodhisattvas are permitted to commit the seven harmful) C. v; i6 N6 n- h; `
actions.” Similar teachings can be found in The Sutra of Great Secret Skills./ o* f$ Y  ]  b! @$ E4 O
为了更多众生的利益,大悲商主为令其从无边轮回中得解脱,可杀短矛黑人;乐行童子为
$ p4 j8 e: V* f' p/ a避免他人因贪己而死,可行不净行。所以,发心极其重要。如果没有清净的发心,表面行; W7 J# x$ H( |' ^
持善法,恰如缘木求鱼。
! w7 ?- G" [1 V( l9 hThe story of Captain Great Compassionate Heart tells how the Captain killed the Black Spearman: h& Z. F6 F$ `( |5 C( g
in order to save him from incalculable sufferings in samsara and, at the same time, to benefit
$ ?+ j$ ]; l, N- ~$ `many other beings. Brahmin Lover of the Stars, to save a maiden madly in love with him from
8 Q0 E' |! D0 u6 E% q' L7 Y1 mkilling herself, broke his vow of chastity. Therefore, the most crucial point is the motivation.
6 F0 m- `) _+ h( _1 X% |Doing good deeds superficially without pure motivation is like climbing a tree to catch a fish.4 M  ]0 f2 V( J, {3 X  v, S) H7 ~
