厌世 | Becoming Disenchanted
真正的修行人应一心向佛,厌弃世法。否则,要想成功简直是白日做梦。
: C; k7 O4 U2 o: l/ l  Q4 oGenuine spiritual seekers should turn their mind wholeheartedly to the Dharma and renounce  Y  {$ V/ t+ c  g; m. \
secular affairs. Otherwise, wishing to be successful in spiritual practice is just daydreaming.
, ?: G% s$ d/ U- ^无著菩萨长期在寂地闭关,很多人想拜见或向他求教,总是吃闭门羹。他在关房门外写着
3 T/ F/ ?5 u* c0 u:“胜法以及今生计,二者无法同时成,若能共成则必定,自我欺骗无怀疑。与我会晤无* @6 P4 o: b  b
他言,期望各自勤修善。”
  c* R. e* ]6 F  E; U1 y. t5 UBodhisattva Thogme Zangpo maintained his long-term retreat in an isolated hermitage; many
8 a- J; `$ l- e2 [: Svisitors seeking his audience or teachings found themselves on the wrong side of the door. He
2 F; z$ L$ L. j2 gposted a note outside his retreat hut that read: “Between the sublime path and the secular8 Y! ?6 }% Y9 v
world, there is no way to accommodate both; should one claim it is doable, it is for certain a self-3 ?2 d' X9 a, \0 Y7 v$ n& Z
deception. Even if we meet face to face, there are no other words I could impart to you. May we# |2 B5 V7 s' A7 [$ r1 \
all strive diligently to practice the Dharma!”4 R5 ?* ]0 n+ A1 A; w
萨迦班智达也说:“一个人一边成办即生兴盛事业,一边求永久安乐,是愚痴卤莽的行为4 p" J& C$ K$ q) ?% l, E. N- x! P! p
。我们应当舍弃世间法。” 《发起菩萨殊胜志乐经》中也云:“弥勒,我不说言,爱言说$ d& t, Y  h+ e5 r  A
者为心一住,好营世务于法无损。”
- C0 B% C3 ~# q+ C6 Z  B0 n- ^Sakya Pandita says: “If one strives for success and prosperity of this life and at the same time3 D0 f+ K0 V: o
wishes to attain the ultimate happiness, one is foolish and reckless. We should abandon secular
4 o/ I5 ]% e" N4 j5 l; b! Baffairs.” In The Sutra of Arousing the Supreme Motivation of the Bodhisattvas it says: “Maitreya, I
: }( P  A6 ]# f2 qwill never agree that vociferous people can effectively focus their minds, nor do I approve of the2 M# k4 o- y0 C# u8 ^5 I
saying that no harm is done to the Doctrines by getting involved in secular matters.”
# q/ x) {6 H" r《修行入门》中也描述过宗喀巴大师亲见文殊菩萨,文殊菩萨赠送的一段至理名言:“如
9 U, ~; C1 z( {( a果开初没有对轮回产生出离的厌恶心,纵然孜孜不倦地闻思修行,也完全不会超越轮回及+ O: O) [; E2 X  H: X
恶趣的因。应当将生圆次第等高深的法暂时束之高阁,精勤修持出离心,直至生起出离心3 n# X5 q6 s, n. |; ]6 q; z3 b; X! \) I
为止。”
8 `. F0 i2 O1 l; SThe Gateway to Practice describes how Master Tsongkhapa once had a vision of Bodhisattva6 v- C4 S5 B) ~8 x
Manjusri, who imparted to him a golden instruction: “Unless one has developed an utter disgust
) Y% F( R$ Q, i) v, ~toward samsara in the first place, all his efforts in studying, reflection, and meditation will not5 D0 t5 q( \7 n5 d9 H" {
free him from samsara and the lower realms. Therefore, one should put away the profound+ J" j" S9 ]7 ~
practices, such as those on generation and completion phases, on high shelves for the moment.
; z1 p5 x0 @. d4 }, aInstead, work intensely on cultivating disenchantment until it has arisen fully in the mind.”
' h/ D: c4 F* e, n有的人会想,不是说:“佛法在世间,不离世间觉,离世觅菩提,恰如求兔角”吗?
, D7 N4 _4 P: j% H/ I) K. zSome may wonder: Isn’t there a famous saying like the following:3 U# }; [7 u4 a3 p4 x  e
The Kingdom of Buddha is in this world, within which enlightenment is to be sought.
5 d% e# S" R2 t# Z1 x, z: uTo seek enlightenment beyond this world is as absurd as to search for a rabbit’s horn.
* R. I5 d% u5 Y: K) P0 B佛法和世间法应该是不矛盾的啊?6 _& t9 p, o7 a" w4 Y
Buddhists’ practice shouldn’t be in conflict with worldly activities, should it?
, G6 h  c& m3 K# n; e2 K其实,这种说法有两层密意,一是为了调柔刚入佛门的世间众生,迎合他们不愿抛弃世间
" |2 ~7 [5 _1 _之念的一种权巧说法;二是针对已证悟的成就者的无二境界或利众事业而言。
5 L' P! Q' b' s# uIn fact, this saying has two levels of meaning. On one level, it is an expedient way to guide those$ k% U4 J9 f: I3 N1 o
new to Buddhism, to suit their unwillingness to let go of this world. On the other level, it speaks
8 Y9 r% f6 x, h3 gdirectly of the non-dual minds or the activities of realized sages.4 ?7 W8 b2 ~, R
作为凡夫,只能脚踏实地地舍弃愦闹,如经所说:“当舍于懈怠,远离诸愦闹,寂静常知: R: b: U  i2 S
足,是人当解脱。”
. F, R( {& w: Q' |" F% |As ordinary beings, we should keep our feet firmly on the ground and stay away from5 n7 b  X1 w' a0 W/ e: ]3 y
distractions. The scripture says: “Whoever overcomes indolence, keeps away from distractions
* Y  U5 Q) q( N) o" z+ k3 y& {+ Y7 }and always feels contented in solitude will attain liberation.”" g! L9 S) e9 j; l, N
浮名浮利过于酒,醉得人心死不醒。不要中了酒神狄俄尼索斯的诡计,迷醉于世间名利,
+ y9 q+ t8 k' c' \3 b* g3 o好好把握住自己吧!
* _5 q* M6 I+ C* T6 \9 z9 dIllusory fame and flimsy prosperity are as seductive as wine but even more potent. They make9 Y3 X# m" p; z& ?
the mind dead drunk, becoming incapable of awakening. Do not be tricked by the wine god* D5 R( E4 u& ]
Dionysus and intoxicated with worldly renown and wealth. Hold onto your own principles!: y1 [* _! u0 w" j5 i7 P
