1 U R0 _# @# u* C/ N- }朋的打搅而生烦恼。所以,离家修行是上上之举。4 M( w" {# J+ p4 O( ]- n. i
6 x t# J6 J# i" d2 m! NIf a spiritual seeker tries to do his practices at home, he is likely to be influenced by situations of
) u7 v0 _5 U8 G b0 b) X0 P, j# U# P. R! j7 T/ L1 B8 u5 Q
craving, hatred, and delusion. Even if he has every intention of concentrating on his studies,: }, c$ q( c _& p: F G0 \
& {* z/ }- d1 _1 `friends and relatives easily stir up his emotion. Hence, the smartest thing to do is to stay away
) E5 _( I3 R0 x, N/ L3 k( K* ?3 D& l' d! \- {# W
from home to practice.
" g9 p# Z0 c9 W9 |& h+ \5 O7 h& ~- @9 p; z' h& M h: x) A
佛经云:“何处生烦恼,须臾不得住。” ?! p$ k0 Q3 y* D/ X

The scripture says: “A place that incites afflictive emotions is a place not to stay even for an+ V2 E R: H3 p# e* o
. q0 Q% Z1 J3 ]# Xinstant.”# Q$ j6 K- @( U+ i7 @
0 j$ U6 Q& J9 V+ z9 g博朵瓦也说:“远离故乡与亲友,如理作意弃散乱,此等之人趋解脱。”3 M( `; {$ N7 e* d# J# l# z- s/ f
/ {2 F& k* H# @Geshe Potowa also says: “Leave behind your hometown, relatives, and friends. Give up( n1 i8 ` c, o
4 H5 h0 i/ l, Y* j9 Udistractions and steer your mind according to the teachings. By doing so, you will attain
5 z5 i* w+ e! b/ e% y
( R& e L, B' s& t% k4 |+ mliberation.”

, V' I7 ]- }) h! u& l" `4 _' [臧巴加惹的修行语录中也有这样一段话:“烦恼因外境而生,不舍弃故乡真是愚痴;修行

需对治烦恼,不依对治者真是愚痴;听闻佛经依因缘而得,不筹备因缘真是愚痴。若远离9 q5 o+ `: D$ @6 e# B0 F
5 Y" P' {( M8 {; J" g1 \5 ^7 \1 x5 |故土,即使谣言四起,也不后悔;心依止上师,即使饥饿而死,也不后悔;若通达心性,

即使短暂依师,也不后悔。若远离家乡,即有了对治烦恼的好缘起;不贪图乐果,即已产

w" j W0 z/ F1 X: W5 V. G4 k生正信的好缘起;舍弃世间法,是发布施的好缘起。不舍弃故乡,贪嗔是不会间断的。因- v# ?& c. @ l3 {* s! H7 |6 q

此,首先离家极重要。世间琐事不能舍弃,就无时修持;世间财物不能放下,就不能斩断9 ? k8 ~$ a$ S$ Y& }+ u! z# }# [
$ j, c; J7 {; R8 g K, o9 V4 S亲友的牵连。”/ \4 t& U+ g1 h, b, Q
+ l* i( N" r! b7 C" z( H9 Q) _: U5 }The following quote is found in Tsangpa Gyare’s teachings on practice: “External circumstances9 @) j9 s* e8 y' m& I% `6 S
* j! z: s! z+ ~, D* P$ itrigger afflictive emotions, clinging to one’s homeland is indeed foolish. Spiritual practice is
7 @0 ~) U) Y8 R/ S! j. s \" B6 [/ W% B1 E5 Y `' w K
meant to subdue disturbing emotions, knowing not to apply antidotes is indeed foolish. The( [. e. [' T% w+ `: ?0 {
7 ^/ M6 n+ U; u( L" E( qopportunity to hear the Dharma results from causes and conditions; not knowing to create
5 Y' B: O5 Z6 Z
: M$ R; B. l. q+ m* Ifavorable causes and conditions is indeed foolish. Having left the homeland far behind for5 z) p. J# c5 u! M
' P" N& I7 h/ m2 c# M, y: [: ~
practice, you have no regret whatsoever even if rumors abound. Having resolved to follow a' ]2 ]0 d( r/ v6 W) @! {) D4 }
9 J4 ?. o4 `: o f: ?1 e% c- y
spiritual teacher, you have no regret even if you die from starvation. Having realized the nature
' G, Z) v7 b/ J2 z \+ \! a- J. D9 N. l( @
1 c, W) U+ d- lof the mind, you have no regret even if your time with the teacher was brief. To leave the# Y# L2 H7 L$ Y% E9 u F
6 V3 d" Q1 T9 K" ~ G. lhomeland is a favorable condition for overcoming afflictions. To give up the craving for pleasure
& Z, _+ X- V: v0 y
2 K: W( h1 F* Y* E0 h0 uis a favorable condition for establishing right views. To banish worldly affairs is a favorable9 T+ N+ l9 S! w, O9 K# L# w
* f; t; `2 v6 `9 a0 A+ D: q( Icondition for making offerings. So long as you are attached to your homeland, you cannot rid( d2 l7 X& |) _
* z- i9 Z6 I. V4 d5 p6 M2 r
yourself of greed and avarice. Henceforth, the first crucial step is to bid farewell to your home. If
4 D% z" D" H$ @: z7 K# ~5 C) N( o; @
you cannot give up worldly engagements, you will never have the time to practice. If you cannot
% o! S3 [8 F- ~; l
( @) J5 z* G! [# [- V1 h9 v' wrelinquish your worldly possessions, you will never sever entanglements with friends and4 m/ o8 ~( v: n! e; r. r
( N9 W0 x& I" {" prelatives.”

看来,故土家园的过患确实无穷。大智者应难舍能舍,难行能行。! s( h. ?$ I) v5 `

In all, it seems the ills of staying in one’s homeland are indeed endless. A truly wise person2 S9 K, u+ A& b7 b: T4 {; _; ]
4 @6 V" G: A, s4 ]. ~' J7 W
should let go of what is difficult to give up and carry out what is difficult to do.2 r( P6 ^" e; j3 V1 n

远离家乡和财务的纠缠,依止静处时,才能深切感受到诸大德教言的胜妙之处。' `7 C: {7 m6 J2 g

Only when we have settled in a secluded place, free from tangles of money and homeland, shall
6 u# P# ^4 X9 \$ d2 f( x6 e2 t! { j+ d; ]: w( ~* \3 k0 U9 y
we come to appreciate deeply the sublime meaning of the masters’ teachings.
