作为一个修行人,如果在家修持,极易为贪嗔痴的外境所转。即使自己想安住,也会因亲( Y8 L. a+ w" w. e0 h. U* _
r6 n$ ~4 B# x5 [( b* i) \! z
朋的打搅而生烦恼。所以,离家修行是上上之举。$ r. v c3 T$ h& h1 t4 z
0 ?6 q+ m- L& I* _2 V [
If a spiritual seeker tries to do his practices at home, he is likely to be influenced by situations of
. E. K3 a( P5 e c6 J; x8 k$ d0 t
- }, h' s) B3 h/ q+ s/ Dcraving, hatred, and delusion. Even if he has every intention of concentrating on his studies,1 X2 U5 R: o3 i# W5 Q8 U
$ N! O) @. E6 P0 b0 s! ]+ wfriends and relatives easily stir up his emotion. Hence, the smartest thing to do is to stay away
" Q+ J' i2 F! K7 @) m: p% a1 c0 e! i6 y6 L3 h
from home to practice.
x" k9 n5 ^1 {( }" A& P" o! V0 }! [. u8 L) o0 W1 c/ m: T1 H
佛经云:“何处生烦恼,须臾不得住。”1 X5 l/ y: F9 H

The scripture says: “A place that incites afflictive emotions is a place not to stay even for an
0 R$ |( q- E+ ^- w
8 z$ y+ B; K: H- E7 p9 [instant.”

" M4 t3 T0 b- x博朵瓦也说:“远离故乡与亲友,如理作意弃散乱,此等之人趋解脱。”; x+ D) ?: H. n# f& j
8 |0 ]( A4 T* O7 QGeshe Potowa also says: “Leave behind your hometown, relatives, and friends. Give up
* z+ \7 r2 C/ b
# z+ V3 P. \* B# M4 ddistractions and steer your mind according to the teachings. By doing so, you will attain
5 \5 K. T1 b q" c; B" }5 I* k0 B7 z4 [
liberation.”
& m, V3 ^% ]# {( P3 L5 N1 X
. ?, w1 X# u8 t8 S( |5 i+ x臧巴加惹的修行语录中也有这样一段话:“烦恼因外境而生,不舍弃故乡真是愚痴;修行 b+ w1 i( `: u7 V
( ?9 y+ s1 S. [& W7 z4 d! ^7 J0 A2 z5 E需对治烦恼,不依对治者真是愚痴;听闻佛经依因缘而得,不筹备因缘真是愚痴。若远离% a/ D2 O( Y, I1 v# L* x6 J
. H% ] Y& S! j, P( s( @5 b) } o
故土,即使谣言四起,也不后悔;心依止上师,即使饥饿而死,也不后悔;若通达心性,
/ r' p% `! l+ J' X1 M$ \
& _+ o3 y4 c% m! ~9 j即使短暂依师,也不后悔。若远离家乡,即有了对治烦恼的好缘起;不贪图乐果,即已产

2 s% q: R4 N3 ~& y/ }生正信的好缘起;舍弃世间法,是发布施的好缘起。不舍弃故乡,贪嗔是不会间断的。因* Y% d* `% |: r; [- ~
/ P& D6 L# C5 k+ `/ t此,首先离家极重要。世间琐事不能舍弃,就无时修持;世间财物不能放下,就不能斩断
. d* ~% |. y6 S6 Q& Q! N6 J3 D6 o1 T/ w+ u3 H% H& l7 }
亲友的牵连。”
$ V# o8 L1 z) ~# E9 Y, M+ Z3 W$ t3 V
The following quote is found in Tsangpa Gyare’s teachings on practice: “External circumstances6 t$ u% C( C k$ V; g$ c, R
( s: `3 R% z; F; g; E( s) a2 gtrigger afflictive emotions, clinging to one’s homeland is indeed foolish. Spiritual practice is' _) K8 x* c! h4 j4 F }3 p. d
0 J' Z. m2 f' {6 S3 o4 ]; Omeant to subdue disturbing emotions, knowing not to apply antidotes is indeed foolish. The+ h1 o9 M1 Q0 A6 [; J/ ` T
+ _1 b4 T* k6 _opportunity to hear the Dharma results from causes and conditions; not knowing to create2 V* A0 p% K7 G1 Q
. d4 Q8 F* I3 J5 R$ y \
favorable causes and conditions is indeed foolish. Having left the homeland far behind for
1 p! j& g* o: ^4 C% C9 [( b; W# G( O Z
practice, you have no regret whatsoever even if rumors abound. Having resolved to follow a+ _; _* Q x- c9 [0 e9 `0 V9 D
5 g$ Q) ^5 I4 F4 B# d3 c- @
spiritual teacher, you have no regret even if you die from starvation. Having realized the nature
; q5 n( O; s! d8 h8 O# C* r% v: f% z" o% j; ]
of the mind, you have no regret even if your time with the teacher was brief. To leave the: Q! l1 a$ T+ ?+ M/ g6 d% y+ s
# @/ a) w# U: V" B, w- Yhomeland is a favorable condition for overcoming afflictions. To give up the craving for pleasure/ q+ e3 H& M" R
x# o2 |9 M; v9 W' r d) D
is a favorable condition for establishing right views. To banish worldly affairs is a favorable
; s5 O& O3 R1 s0 k4 {$ a6 G9 {! B3 \3 h
condition for making offerings. So long as you are attached to your homeland, you cannot rid
% B9 y' L; Q: k4 S8 {- L; e5 l4 @. f4 ?; y) H$ V4 n
yourself of greed and avarice. Henceforth, the first crucial step is to bid farewell to your home. If
# ]) x [4 I# n' p) {1 h* Q% ?/ S/ A- ~* h1 {& g% L! ?5 O
you cannot give up worldly engagements, you will never have the time to practice. If you cannot
/ N: B$ D) Y% S% b) v( w- K# i# @3 ]& i$ }% K: y
relinquish your worldly possessions, you will never sever entanglements with friends and+ S8 p1 b$ @4 R* Y- k
p4 r) {+ b* ]7 @
relatives.”

, l( ]1 u. t: n' {1 h) M: m看来,故土家园的过患确实无穷。大智者应难舍能舍,难行能行。- x* P7 |8 p5 Y1 Y% E3 [4 _8 \$ Y

In all, it seems the ills of staying in one’s homeland are indeed endless. A truly wise person7 X) L4 B) o4 d& k
" L! `$ s& Y1 a% O/ z G" j8 i
should let go of what is difficult to give up and carry out what is difficult to do.

& h# M' I: f3 y* X( l% T3 y( Y远离家乡和财务的纠缠,依止静处时,才能深切感受到诸大德教言的胜妙之处。

) y8 u$ d/ @4 L5 ~* GOnly when we have settled in a secluded place, free from tangles of money and homeland, shall6 q5 ~9 r0 F" O8 X) p* A* y
) O# {& t9 A- L9 @5 l* Swe come to appreciate deeply the sublime meaning of the masters’ teachings.
