v: {6 }, C' `% x3 w/ Dthat they ought to reflect inwardly or to think twice about what they are doing. As to the issue of& @8 w% \' L! t- X3 n

death, it’s something far too remote to think about.+ K5 o2 {1 v7 N9 R) j; h( z

6 I) o; A9 | E! w/ Bscrap of stability or happiness. At the Water Lotus Festival, they feel their joy is everlasting. Not7 x* Z# g: \+ J$ v% l* O4 x

having any worry or fear, such ignorance of theirs is indeed startling. The Lord of Death blocks

1 S8 W1 X" x; T( u+ R" fthe path of life. Just as one recklessly enjoys happiness, the nemeses—sickness, old age, and5 n! [/ v& T; Y* I- p* ]
8 D \5 O" i6 ]8 b# ]death—wait always around the corner. How could a wise person be joyful when facing the( H+ Q- J" r1 v0 |! O
2 a/ e4 J/ E! B2 u, r; brounds of rebirth?”

刘备在临终之际,为使自己历经千辛万苦而创下的蜀汉家业,不至于功亏一篑,谆谆告诫: `9 Q/ M: S' z% Q% z6 u+ f+ g

乐,不思蜀。”丝毫不知亡国之恨,真是令人感慨万分。

advice in the least. After his father’s death, he cared only to enjoy his ancestor’s fruits of labor,

indulging himself in sensual pleasures day and night and eventually, he lost the once-mighty7 W6 M' l/ Q8 M2 a

kingdom to enemies. Worse, as he was detained in other states, he still took delight in watching+ O7 ~. W: j+ j9 W* @4 F! }$ i c

the chambermaids’ dancing and gloated shamelessly: “I’m too delighted to be homesick!” In him

; \2 @, N: o- g; M+ J7 Tthere was not the slightest remorse or anguish that his Shu Kingdom had been conquered. What

有的修行人也一样,终日沉迷于歌舞升平的生活,毫不察觉死主将临,实在与刘禅无异。

0 R" G6 S8 y% a/ F! ?4 DMany so-called practitioners, regaling themselves in pleasure all the time, are also entirely

$ l1 ?. s$ j2 N$ O [3 p: s# d! Koblivious to the imminent arrival of the Lord of Death. They do not fare any better than Liu Chan.8 v) M8 o2 R8 Z6 D- I( p6 a
