the afternoon and recited scriptures in the evening. For over 10 years he kept the same schedule( B: w; V2 R2 J. I

We get serious only when we are in good spirits but as soon as our mood falls, we become6 F. m& e& i# J2 K L F- k8 P
9 U# D; D, a Y6 D& D, G- Zdistracted and lag behind in practice. The glaring contrast makes his perseverance all the more
, S& i U. W8 j& `. z6 Z8 ?
) m1 x: w% D$ s% A) J0 Qadmirable.8 \3 V6 y* q! ^; Y6 U# E2 u- i

到1987年他去世,已念了五亿多心咒。真是不算不知道,一算吓一跳。和他的精进相比,

In Mahayana Abhidharma Sangiti Shastra it says: “Practitioners on the path of accumulation

+ g9 s* }& d6 S1 tshould endeavor in studying, contemplating, and meditating on the Dharma; to tame the six) D( P+ J# I" X" l
7 Y' P/ W7 a! j; D' w) g; esenses, eat appropriately, and avoid sleeping in the early or late part of the night (that is, to sleep3 F# `5 [% h4 ]) E1 P1 [
" n5 [: }! M( m9 E* T2 Donly in the middle section of the night).”3 b' `+ D, |. F! T* q6 [
7 Z/ X, n/ m4 c, I2 w“不积跬步,无以至千里;不积小流,无以成江海。”

& R- n$ T1 z Z' m' E4 bWithout adding up many little steps, a journey of a thousand miles cannot be accomplished.

一时的勤奋不算什么,一生的勤奋才是最重要的。
