钱财 ——索达吉堪布

钱财 | On Money9 a: D6 ^  O% b8 ~7 X
& r" f; P6 c4 D' U5 l; I3 f
城市里的人们,脸上都挂着疲倦和痛苦的表情。究竟为什么会这样呢?经过我的详细观察2 g0 P2 [8 G( g. N5 O
+ i3 m. |/ `* \# H3 U3 \2 ~- Y
,发现大多是因为钱财。
8 P6 B- @3 k" J! s+ J* {9 o

1 O8 b& d- K) `City dwellers usually wear a look of weariness and worry. Why is that so? After my careful& X4 u: F$ \/ [
$ }1 r: J" Y8 o, G! x9 Y2 y
observation, I find money issues are largely to blame.
0 W8 ]! b6 J8 z; q6 A" I
( a+ w  G" w" t) B# Y2 v" \& o众生赖以生存的这付臭皮囊,如果不幸降临于都市,就时刻需要钱财的支撑,否则就会轰/ F: L. H1 @- G* z6 Y8 _
5 `- L0 E2 S+ n
然坍塌。也许有的人会说:“不可能吧?”但在都市里,你会处处感觉到钱财的重要性。* C5 B' M8 a# E+ g9 {: I
- A9 U) x7 D# W5 d( W1 i! p
无论吃饭、穿衣、看病、睡觉,甚至上厕所,也离不开钱。真的应了那句话:“钱不是万, i( a) S3 o: {5 j# _0 D

1 J* Y9 F7 g8 O能的,但没有钱是万万不能的。”
" o$ N0 ?4 S' n' @3 m
/ x2 j. O/ \/ Q& U* b
This sack of flesh and bones that we humans survive in, if it fatefully lands in a city, will need the
+ o  J5 j/ p, v8 E  u% d( m7 b# r, o) @" s" b
constant support of money. Otherwise, it will fall with a thump. Some of you may argue: “That’s
3 b8 ]6 `7 U6 ?1 \0 n2 B7 [' @' q, O/ H/ ^& ?" [" u/ I
not quite possible!” But in the city, one is forced to be keenly aware of the power of money. Any
; @# {. \6 B' R
1 C4 _4 A. M+ a9 Yactivity—be it eating, buying clothes, and seeing the doctor, sleeping, even going to the
5 m; y# y' @; S  z
* c# X9 d7 Q& s1 K) K) c) g: Ptoilet—calls for money. It is exactly how the saying goes: “Money is not almighty, but without2 u- y3 _1 P1 X+ a3 I5 P2 ^+ b# O

. J/ [1 ~0 ~9 u# {6 c2 cmoney nothing can be done.”
4 T3 i" D3 q, g7 \8 Z: r" ^
) m/ y2 D) \) H( I$ z. ]+ z: ]. o没有钱,都市人的一切生存活动都不得不停滞。为了五蕴所构建的这部机器能正常运转,
  f' j% m7 n" Q+ S& Q" U0 |) j+ X. D5 J' s' N% y6 v3 C* K1 o/ e, A
人不得不像奴仆一样,为这部机器的能源——钱财而搏斗。我时常在想,如果人能像蚯蚓
  n5 O5 Y1 S" Q( Q& T" X/ g2 k& \6 D$ a7 q
一样吃土也能生存该多好啊!但现实无情地告诉我,城市人要寻求生存的因是异常困难的
5 C  R9 V4 O; W5 o9 m- U
( I( A4 P0 Y$ ]& Y* [6 o
( |1 `0 f  s* @, j" Z0 i" Q

  b; C* R; l$ I- W8 W' ?With no money, all living activities in the city have to come to a halt. In order to have our body$ U+ }  p; v% ^: f& `8 g

; Q' ~/ C/ M, _( P% l, l6 d1 {' Umachine, the composite of five aggregates, function normally; humans have to struggle like" q# |$ G1 v$ D

7 [8 ~; \2 a4 I  x+ Cslaves to garner the source of its fuel—money. I often think, wouldn’t it be wonderful if humans# w) ]3 M9 y$ E. }; ^

5 T; m$ e! W/ F2 ?+ z4 O4 W0 lcould survive just by imbibing soil like the earthworm! But cruel reality tells me otherwise: for
1 e1 g  f  Y) i4 u/ O& g
  S8 l$ ?; V" g/ m' npeople living in the city, the provisions to survive are by no means easy to come by.7 f+ H$ c$ G& j0 J
5 F3 t. Q- Y& C2 T5 ~
所以,城市的人只有忙忙碌碌。不论他是谁,都会感受为钱财奔波而带来的痛苦。以前以! Q/ g" y4 c! w
' d* Q% x' |# @' ^; u
为城市人过着天人一般的日子,现在方知,他们更是备受煎熬啊!这一切,令我想起山里% Z3 i- K8 S3 O

$ M: O& n3 Q% G的修行人。在山里,除了食物,不需要为更多的事操心,生存的因自然具足。同样是1000
( ]5 O8 w- {, O9 B, j
2 n0 ~9 f- A$ z! ^7 x: ?元,在山里,就是腰板挺直的大富翁;然而在城市里,却有捉襟见肘、相形见绌的感觉。
& W" ^; c# L& S+ C$ m8 s
0 }! W. J& y+ J; h. t, Q; }
Consequently, city folks are reduced to being always on the run. The anguish of having to work
* `# r2 \9 F4 k) `
" m" x; K: g9 I5 \- uhard for money is felt by practically everyone. Previously I had the illusion that people in the city
2 G! Y4 A8 ^5 U4 p/ v: u) A0 n: K! J4 K" s' O5 X) V3 n' m9 M  v; w
live like celestial beings; only now do I come to see the extra agony they have to endure. This
8 _$ F) ?9 U0 K
7 ^& y* O9 M% n8 s5 a) B, wreminds me of those spiritual seekers deep in the mountains where the environment is naturally
4 K4 M' y  o7 v5 B2 _4 m" k" Q1 [. L$ }! ?
conducive to survival. Other than food, there are not too many things to worry about, and a
2 A6 m7 O! [; L  o+ ^- @) C/ u2 k: h5 f' u; i# k5 m6 O- B- a' Q
person with 1,000 yuan can stand tall and be considered a rich person. While in the city, the1 u5 @9 j( \+ a1 p$ g
4 O8 w6 ?9 }3 V! x
same amount of money won’t go too far; one is unable to make ends meet and will feel a sense9 v; A  y2 a# x: q& m' G* M0 y* p/ _

5 c. }4 X% T6 H2 `/ xof inferiority.0 T) t# u# f" ?( K. y4 H9 {  a

4 ?! i3 u' ?7 I0 Y作为修行人,就是应当以积累圣者七财为荣,积累世间钱财为耻,视清贫为最好的伴侣。6 Z8 ?9 t2 o- \- J9 S+ y7 W

% A: u* I6 P$ I- ~, @; H* M7 U噶当派大德们最推崇的教言就是:

. ?; N  X8 E  _2 ]7 a" @/ f6 X% S' I$ C9 V2 J! F
A spiritual seeker should be defined as one who is proud of accruing the seven noble riches, who% N7 x9 L8 X' X; v/ L! y2 V" H
2 S: Z0 @5 I) N* N6 s; P6 @
is ashamed of amassing worldly possessions, and who regards poverty as a dear companion. The
# j2 s- \/ d/ G$ `$ }
5 k9 {2 C# r- A' M/ rmost celebrated teaching among the Kadampa masters is:
! f) y) ~! a# @8 P3 ^8 B; B  Q. I( Y9 ?# W  O' e8 x; P+ E6 l0 ~
“心依于法,法依于贫,贫依于死,死依于壑。”
& K: M* o* {* e/ [$ a/ x& p
$ N! j$ U* \7 V, L; V# S! H
Base your mind on the Dharma,4 q3 s6 J5 k) s) K" n& o8 H
3 L5 E, Z- h- \- u* _
Base your Dharma on a humble life,$ v! c+ n9 S$ w; S

( z: R2 B) H! W0 O. P* fBase your humble life on the thought of death,
6 |% [; C% K+ P) j4 s
, F! \) {9 H- X- d. cBase your death on a lonely cave.9 I+ W( l1 F9 M) E( R: D) R
) X6 L, `6 l2 ]1 N
富贵荣华足以使人痴迷,而贫贱却足以使人睿智。

8 L4 d: I' X$ S$ h, H5 EWealth and power make one obsessive and indulgent, while poverty and humility impart to one7 Y# m3 j: z6 @, x/ q0 j3 I5 C1 C

4 A# b8 g! y8 m9 j8 r/ G6 Qvision and wisdom.! s. w3 x. R0 @; r/ N( i$ T- y

9 \, {/ |, o$ R; ]  S* s汉地也有“一等和尚轻飘飘,二等和尚一大包,三等和尚压弯了腰”的说法

3 _( w' [  Q' w* n; F! h$ [+ y% t
There is also a saying in the Han area: “The monk of the highest caliber is light and at ease, the
1 ?: }3 n' U1 q% }9 F, w6 d+ b* a
monk of the second rank holds a big sack, the monk of the third rank stoops with weight.”
; H% s! z0 f+ d7 i1 f
! T, q9 |1 V( x9 p一位藏地的大德,在英国作学者期间,每月发工资前,就将上月的节余全部布施,自己却

2 M4 F6 {; u* g! ~9 ]穿着破旧的衣衫。很多慕名而去拜见他的人,都难以将眼前这个外表寒碜的人,与修证圆
' v2 q0 E7 n5 i/ L2 v; h- Y$ p  i" U$ l& h% ^! m$ I
满、学富五车的藏地著名大成就者的名称联系在一起。这种行为,实在令人赞叹。

! z. W1 ?2 S& C" ^& x2 F6 G& |3 r; opayday, he would offer all the money he saved from the previous month to charity, keeping for
8 f! N  P& p; h9 j" z
5 c5 X, g. d, \  h- a2 Zhimself only old ragged clothes. When visitors sought him out with admiration, they found it
& P9 h* W3 `+ B# P) ?: I
' Q% F/ \! O+ F! R& W# U0 `6 `8 thard to match the humble, scrubby person they saw with the famous Tibetan siddha of perfect8 F) d8 j, m+ e& g) T2 ~

0 Z, O7 t" t7 t0 dlearning and accomplishment. His conduct deserves our highest praise.4 x: R; {, E9 E5 y1 E
( E& n% O1 S2 p- ~8 H! e+ O9 t& j/ ?
无数的大德们都为我们做出了表率,我们实应心无旁骛地依止于贫穷。& b$ h8 S% F" D& t7 Q- J# B
/ y, J$ ?' w( u, N; G! H2 ?
Innumerable sages have shown us perfect examples; we should abide in poverty without the
