闽南佛学院的法师今天问我:“佛陀成佛后能否见众生?”这是学佛之人常有的疑惑。有
# B# p. r- c% J& P6 m# U' p
2 \# D  _5 C; Y" Z% V4 q. r人说,佛陀成佛后已无我相、众生相,自然不能见众生。又有人说,不能见众生又如何度% g5 ~+ W; i/ M1 J( B
2 Q0 J4 S& |' Q
化众生呢?
! x: {) {. x. @0 t# ?% B- W

$ @4 `( l9 K* y" j3 U2 jA Dharma Teacher in Minnan Buddhist Academy asked me today: “Does the Buddha still perceive
! \+ Z+ ^# _5 s" w- `$ d+ t: R, M- ]7 a. ~  U
sentient beings after having attained Buddhahood?” This is a question many Buddhists often
# ~! a; A# q2 h% X5 |. Y6 {: I& \, _; I4 U& b+ |- H
raise. Some people say: “An enlightened Buddha has eliminated all perceptions of self and of
$ k; {$ @5 Z, P' S& P+ J. K* x/ J: O
! q3 @' D, Q  R7 r7 J9 O3 {/ ibeings; therefore, to him there are no sentient beings to be seen.” Still others wonder: “How can
5 u: W4 D' ]5 f# q- d( n+ o; t
1 y$ ]- T/ D/ b' |6 m, hthe Buddha tame sentient beings if he does not perceive them?”! ~! L1 |/ T" x( H9 \& s0 f
+ x6 ~4 r( f9 g1 d
对此问题应如此回答,佛陀成佛后于如所有智前,一切平等无碍,无相无众生;而于尽所1 D. a$ b  N/ E# C) P: b. d
6 T& c, ]$ c  d4 B% d% r
有智前,能照见一切众生之起心动念,但无迷乱相,无有执著
6 L' y9 U. f% g
. Y7 i) A! |8 {9 u  d9 E, u. f& C* w
The answer to these questions can be stated as follows: To the enlightened Buddha, in his+ ^0 b% L8 j) O) \7 M) l
2 E( K, q7 a+ n7 m  `* s7 C
wisdom that knows the nature of all phenomena, all appearances are indistinguishably equal; to/ p& B) R# y, a
; Q$ Z4 s6 N  N5 I# _/ a3 n
him there are neither forms nor beings. In his wisdom that knows the multiplicity of all
0 ?* f2 N  m  X
; D! b2 G& k. J8 kphenomena, the Buddha knows every thought and idea of all sentient beings; however, to him$ y' t# H7 E: \% [: ^' [; [
8 Z0 d  x5 i; {; b/ {( T  }
there is neither confusion nor clinging.
" C6 x) h6 e. Q' e/ a' b' S
% n& K  ~+ N$ }) E6 O2 v, k) V, o% d近代藏地著名大德俄巴活佛,曾得弥勒菩萨摄受,法王如意宝曾于其前听闻过佛法。他于
; ~- s- q/ x! k& R: k! ~1 j6 ?4 }& y8 ~5 H  _/ b
《辩宗派见解论》中引用荣索班智达的教义举例说:如同两人于一房中,其中一人做梦,
% `) |; p: L! W
5 W8 I( g0 A. s! {, Z. {另一人具他心通,而得知其梦境,但因知其为梦,而不生执著。若此时做梦之人因梦中遭
3 _3 w( |* a4 t( {6 }* ~" k, _( }1 `( s
遇恶境而生大苦恼,清醒之人可用神通入其梦境,令其消除恐怖直至苏醒。同样,佛陀也
% |9 h7 t* o; {$ C$ o
$ I) K; W* B: |* I& _4 ~/ w了知众生之境现及分别念,但无相执,却能以方便法,令各种根器众生逐渐趋入解脱道。

$ c) ]! I- E* f: r8 b+ B; v+ ?. h+ H

4 m- `) S8 f8 ]! ?, V. g2 N& ffrom whom our Choeje (King of Dharma) Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche had received teachings. In the

; }/ k8 N0 Z5 S# D! k6 h1 L* Dshastra Discerning the Views of Sects, the Tulku cites teachings from Pandita Rangjung as
8 |$ P1 O8 Y+ n; h+ G2 N+ g$ }5 q
examples: There are two persons in a room; the first person is dreaming while the second one,
6 L% l/ A2 n* D" e# w; \& P; P5 x8 t
: g5 x: F( R* nwho has the psychic power of knowing other minds, is awake. The second person sees the first
6 e* j$ [, O$ o( g, L  f9 w* f9 `7 _3 c" J, Y8 I/ e
one’s dream with no clinging because he clearly knows it is a dream. Should the dreamer have a' v8 h' I. P6 [4 o2 q, O
# W0 k: V. n3 X* a& o1 }! P
nightmare and suffer tremendously, the second person can through his miraculous power enter  t2 F  |* d, c+ Q( h% o3 @
9 r( H: @( o+ I) w
the dream, dispel the horror, and wake up the dreamer. In the same way, the Buddha knows
+ v5 x/ U* d9 t" X7 T4 v" K# U/ v& t& q
sentient beings’ conceptual thoughts and their perceived phenomena. The Buddha has no$ C, F& V" s' M) t) I6 [
: m& r( U2 T0 `5 X+ m
attachment and, with his skillful means that suit each individual, leads all beings gradually onto; w6 [+ @# O0 H6 U0 `( V3 y" z
6 `( N" k0 o3 Q; ^& N' n
the path of liberation.. _  G+ F; K2 o; d/ x; a/ R

9 U7 A0 j" l" S如来的智慧、功德,即使得地菩萨也不能如实了知,凡夫之分别念就更难以揣度。法称论" M7 V" H) t2 g6 Z3 F3 a
% L# j7 H, E$ W) I* j6 K; n
师云:“如来智慧不可思。”

2 ?* k& [% J' e  y' K5 w) G* H
Even Bodhisattvas who have advanced to the level of bhumis cannot fathom thoroughly the) Q/ j- a  b5 O' ^$ o  q# l$ U

0 S9 ?4 z' I9 c% q: Mwisdom and qualities of the Tathagata, what needs to be said of ordinary people with conceptual/ O' v& y8 X6 p+ T

7 g4 k& K2 ?- l% Nminds? Master Dharmakirti says it well: “The wisdom of the Tathagata is just inconceivable.”
, u4 l9 O5 E+ s3 \: }- u) V. ^  n
对于如来之究竟智慧,应以信心与教证了知,绝非以分别念思维推理所能决断。& ], m- g9 [& k6 E6 h0 A

5 U/ |8 O7 v7 e' {3 r. S3 oOnly through strong faith and scriptural evidence can one comprehend the ultimate wisdom of
8 m7 N# j8 o" o4 c
% e# ?7 `. m* o8 N; X( f5 E3 Zthe Tathagata. It can never be resolved by the thinking and reasoning of a conceptual mind.
