) E* x, O; F" Z# ]十分不想写下这个标题!但在这个五欲增盛的浊世,还俗已成为不得不面对的残酷现实。

与其避重就轻地逃避这个题目,不如勇敢地正视它。

How reluctant am I to touch upon this subject! But “to leave the monastic order” presents a/ X! j* u. x; G( s9 N
; b5 ` b; Z( kcruel reality we must face in the current time of five degenerations. Instead of dodging the issue," g7 V& x; Q2 m9 ~! x- f: T9 K
9 h* K* G7 {& J8 Z+ p6 K5 }
I may as well look at it squarely and bravely.0 A: X+ j5 ]8 b+ l- Y
* j1 ~$ u" {' W# b
今天,听到一位出家十几年的人,为烦恼所缠,已还俗好几个月了。听到这个消息,心里( H& D& u. O8 ^7 [( |2 O
; s0 Y& z6 _1 j+ I8 ~像吃了一只苍蝇般不是滋味。记得在他出家初期,也可算得上是闻思精进、戒律清净、智" i! _# G R$ c
0 r2 @7 ?$ Q7 P# R% k* X8 K
慧日益增上的典范。他曾说过:“我只要活一天,决不还俗。让我还俗,还不如死掉。”
% {% d( n2 l0 m" I7 k3 P
' y. S: Q2 g8 `2 o& C, G& W4 J2 q这样一位下了很大决心的人,却食言还俗,十分令人痛心。8 r7 o7 j( Y$ L
: n1 R! c# S! R5 j" ?8 v
A few months ago a monk, beset by afflictions, declared to renounce his monastic life of more+ |4 Y( K8 Y4 j" t! u
$ ^1 F' U0 m g5 w" a6 M: U- K5 U
than 10 years. When I heard this news today, I got quite upset as if I had swallowed a fly. I recall, V0 D/ q* V3 z1 x
" I3 B9 p2 C7 _' e7 k1 X$ e
early on, his ordained peers had regarded him as a model by his diligent study and keeping pure
# n# G2 T. Q0 J1 ~. d. n8 x2 J
, b3 t" X$ T ]precepts. Once he asserted: “As long as I am alive, I will never leave the monastic order even for
# d" R$ A9 D2 U' ^8 e! N4 B5 s4 {4 M6 H& d/ j: f. v
one day. For me, returning to the worldly life is worse than dying.” A person who proclaimed his5 X9 `' _4 o& K @4 U
$ o2 j6 x# g8 O, c5 Q/ [faith with such strong determination still ended up eating his own words and repealed his vow.: e* c" v# @& Q, V9 D
4 n' l1 t9 R% ]/ Y3 }& J! z6 d6 C
How can I not feel sick at heart!
2 k5 y3 \4 u }' n: H( ^: a5 O- |0 T- F+ Z" D# d
他在电话中闭口不谈佛法,却无休止地言及他的生意。当问到他生意如何时,他像饱含 了. x9 x7 g" M+ }: _+ w. D
6 W" f% v& U5 o F5 U' ~( R7 w7 ]* x
一大堆苦水,忙不迭地向我倾倒:“如今的生意太难做了!每天8小时,却挣不到十元钱。! J0 l4 t+ d' U: G/ J/ @
( r$ X) q: a8 I) M想起以前出家时无忧无虑的生活,真像在天堂一样啊!唉!!”听了他的苦恼,我真不知! E7 i2 [3 n. W- H b
K; V/ l0 Z* ?
该如何应答。/ Z) f* i0 _. x$ P' e$ k
; s' a+ @6 G- COver the phone, he veered away from discussing the Dharma, but instead tattled endlessly about6 p5 G2 {5 S; J6 H8 ^1 c6 u4 x
" ~. _" A6 ]. \1 N% B
his business. When I asked how it was going, he started to pour out to me his pent-up miseries:
: c/ y# V. \; K6 K2 t, h( i/ g! o8 }" d' m) X
“You know, it’s so difficult to do business these days! My hard labor of eight hours daily earns me/ F- {$ Z# `% H S$ M) G0 j8 W
2 n6 W# b; K- H8 ^
less than 10 yuan. The ordained life at the monastery, as I recall now, was so peaceful and worry-
2 G/ }+ H. J7 S5 [6 o( \% s; o c7 n6 E
free, almost like living in heaven! Alas!!” Hearing his complaints, I have no idea how to respond.0 s. s1 T0 s) k% ~

不过令我庆幸的是,他的见解至今尚未改变,对三宝的信心也没有退减,忏悔心恒时不离: {1 J0 ~5 P! U0 p& p9 B
) \/ S4 A% M; }; X8 Q) r# w; ]左右。虽忙于生意,却不离念诵。 b2 g6 e [( J7 D+ k; [
$ e! ?! g, W( f" C! K
But there is some consolation for me: He is still holding onto his views and his faith in the Three3 G2 s# n# R5 ? |% j
! x6 }: [& _+ P' }% ?' B
Jewels has not waned. He takes every opportunity to do the purification practice and also( d# |3 c* g. J9 H0 I( {
; K) I- H+ q. X' F2 t& X
remembers to recite mantras while busy with his shop.$ _, }3 q% X) ?" X o* P+ b
+ d9 I9 b. {7 [- }喇拉曲智仁波切曾有一位很有名的弟子因故还俗,但别人毁谤他时,仁波切却说:“毁谤
: K7 i2 E1 A3 d; t* O
2 v+ `* {8 b! L/ n0 O, j' ^别人是错误的,他的身体虽然还俗了,心却没有还俗。”

# d- I+ |; B; z7 B' m# [1 P: _0 GOnce, one of Lhala Chodri Rinpoche’s main disciples left the monastic order for some reason.
& g/ O2 E6 b# P8 N+ {9 L0 ~3 t! R& ^. q1 \% O. J1 ]
When others condemned him, Rinpoche said: “It’s not right to speak badly about others.

& K' n2 p- ~8 {2 G) f: m# MAlthough his body has resumed a worldly life, he has not done so in his heart.”& v, K8 a/ m0 Z3 c" |( y$ N
) s! R- F* j& K4 o8 g* E1 k佛经云:“宁可毁尸罗,切莫坏正见。”《中观四百论》中也说:“宁毁犯尸罗,不损坏% H& t; ?+ }) j
m( ?5 F# K y3 m6 X
正见。”如果见解毁坏,不行忏悔,反而责怪上师三宝,即使身体没有还俗,其内心却已- f9 P+ P* k( |# o
! j& V r) c3 H无可救药了。( H& X; s" n- ?: ? `( \9 w
& K! R3 I3 j* U; [& H! x7 BIt is stated in the scripture: “Better to break the precepts than to damage the right view.” In the1 \% ]3 o0 e# c% X: k
7 Z9 ?& Z9 N! B3 Q! y2 y$ u
Four Hundred Verses of Madhyamaka, it says: “One would rather transgress edicts than abandon
+ ]$ U1 k; n$ \5 A' U# K: {8 g
! z9 b4 j2 f, Z; y5 ~& t# C5 ` Xthe right view.” If a person has ruined his right view but, instead of confessing sincerely, he; O8 u1 X* W/ }' E" j% f) q
3 ?5 w0 [9 E' z& y* lpoints the finger at the guru or the Three Jewels, then this person’s mind is incurably corrupt,

even though his body has not returned to the secular world.* S& B5 ^1 L: q8 O3 e
