修女 | Missionary Nun
看到这个题目,也许有些人会感到不解。作为一名佛教徒,怎么忽然间对外道感起兴趣来
/ Q) c' P; Q% F了呢?但今天我要赞美的这位修女,决不能用单纯的宗教来界定她的信仰。在我的心目中! c; S8 I, s3 ^  N7 H- u
,她就是活生生的佛菩萨。她,就是驰名全球的修女——特蕾萨。3 ~1 G+ \$ t- `1 I( L/ q5 s6 N/ `( p
Upon seeing this title, some of you may wonder: As a Buddhist, why am I suddenly interested in9 J  T; z! m8 @3 v' g
affairs of non-Buddhists? But the object of my admiration and respect today, a Catholic nun, is" e# d/ x/ q5 m  t6 q" j; E$ {
beyond the simple definition of religious faith. In my heart, she is the living Buddha or a/ W+ f2 E4 U( O( O( s% `$ ?/ b
Bodhisattva. This person, incidentally, is none other than the renowned missionary nun—Mother! E+ p- B! W' n: g- f$ z6 e
Teresa.

3 Z+ P0 |) m4 F0 ^2 P' C& Yin want of care, she could no longer shut her own eyes. Driven by a strong sense of purpose and
9 t1 d3 R& a2 Y* @% P0 a/ fagainst the strong opposition of people around her, she ventured into the slum all alone. Bravely,
, g6 J' r: d# |& b' K5 ]she carried on her back the pains and sorrows of beings in the world; with her frail shoulders, she- }* d. L* f7 @$ @
assumed the heavy burden of rescuing the destitute from the slums.. n$ {; U6 @( u  E
当一个从没有人关心过,没有人知道他死活的老人,孤寂地躺在床上等待着死神造访的时0 R- G  h& t* U! s1 u% o

heed whether he was still breathing. When the only visitor he could ever expect was the Lord of
# G8 d$ _2 P& q+ ^6 c/ L! N' PDeath, Mother Teresa walked into his room. A drunk stretched out on the street, brutally beaten,
$ o6 E& ~+ h7 \and severely injured. When he could await nothing but indifference, Mother Teresa appeared
! e# z6 J) w6 c; J* A, o( r9 q) W( land helped him up, escorting him to the “House of the Pure Heart” she had established. A tramp! p+ b; ^6 l! Y/ Q/ Q
curved up on the roadside, his body covered with oozing sores and maggots. When he was
7 ]% q4 h' j# _; q3 [/ j/ j) W4 ?receiving nothing but spiteful looks and revulsion from passersby, Mother Teresa came and
% {2 T9 f3 W3 s5 v" _bound up his wounds tenderly; she embraced his heart of total despair and gave it warmth…. Her
) Y/ T, E' g9 @footprints covered more than half of the earth—Calcutta, Yemen, London, Melbourne, New York,1 T4 I# X* h, x" o! W
even China. She founded more than a hundred charity agencies to serve the lowly poor. She took
9 @4 F) O/ p: f2 min 61,273 abandoned babies in a period of merely six years.0 o& W8 `' f2 ?5 ]: F8 ?- C, Z# {. A
她的不懈努力终于得到了世人的认同。1979年,她获得了举世瞩目的“诺贝尔和平奖”,! Y" I/ p- `: U/ l) C4 e* q  U6 L8 t

4 X" d# g; L+ q: [prize money to charity. In addition, she specifically requested the Nobel Committee to forgo the
0 @8 J5 ?% W* F$ B5 L( btraditional banquet in honor of the Peace Prize winner. The committee was impressed by her2 z  `' h; z( y# O+ D% c
spirit and contributed the $7,100 that would otherwise have been spent on the banquet to the3 h# h; f0 S7 o8 h
Missionary of Charity that she founded.4 ?6 x9 g& Y8 G! y& F( D, d

electronics pervaded with computers and so forth, the only electrical equipment’s in her place! ]6 [+ c! n6 p; `
were a few lamps and a telephone. She sold a Lincoln Continental limousine, a gift from the8 i* p& j1 c7 Y
Pope, at an auction and used the money to open a leprosy hospital.' A6 V5 j) |: u" }2 x

thoughtfulness; and this is the great poverty that makes people suffer so much.”1 I2 s$ [( w* e6 o; y

homeless because of rejection. Even the rich are hungry for love, for being cared for, for being

让我们像特蕾萨修女一样,放弃那些惊天动地的伟大创举,以“俯首甘为孺子牛”的精神) W$ U# Q6 K/ n: P' ?6 C$ ~4 r. \
,从一点一滴开始做起吧!

ambition of doing earthshaking undertakings, but start serving mankind bit by bit.( T$ s% H4 A$ b8 F" p( [
