There is one saying of Longchenpa that I really admire. Although my obscuration has prevented
( E* F4 n9 i4 s1 v% F& d+ A# Ame from abiding in it all the time, I’d like to quote it here to share with Dharma friends.
5 q( ~3 w7 Z; L+ q7 r那句至理名言就是:“时时刻刻应观察自心,若实在无法避免散乱,则应精勤于顶礼、转- y# J: x( M# x" e1 L7 t4 y- M& _3 T# H
绕等与善法相应的散乱,切莫造作恶业。若居静处时,应当修持禅定等胜义善法,不能于
3 }" G- e( b/ O7 P浑浑噩噩当中度日。”也就是说,不要让毫无意义的散乱占据了自己的宝贵时光。任何心! i" T# z0 ]" R. H- l
情、任何环境下,都应与佛法相应。
% Z! ]" x/ K, N1 ?& c2 qThis golden saying is: “On all occasions, be vigilant about your own mind. If distraction is
' v% I" S2 k7 p9 B8 |- f0 i: Zabsolutely unavoidable, then strive to engage in virtuous deeds that can be done in a distracting
% f' ~# Z; y, A8 q; {setting, such as doing prostration or circumambulation; never commit any evil deeds. If there is/ m/ k) Q- _# x- P
time for solitude, then practice excellent virtues such as quiescence meditation; do not waste" s( D9 L' I7 n# j
time muddle-headed.” In other words, we should not let meaningless diversions take hold of our6 j' K9 M5 A% W- f- r: `
precious time. Under any circumstances and in any kind of mood, we should behave in
4 T! l0 _+ ]0 Z' M. e1 C7 p8 U& Waccordance to the Dharma.$ `3 k- f7 R1 u/ `! r4 ~' \
一些好的修行人,即使居于闹市,也能把握自己。表面上看来很懈怠,常睡懒觉。其实却
* V! i) a% l; j躲在被子里看书、念经、修行、甚至修习梦光明,像骏马一样远远超胜于整天忙于吹嘘自/ G7 ?# \ s& ]9 y$ C% W( a
己的人。根登群沛于印度时翻译的一些零散佛经中也说道:“放逸之中未放逸,睡梦之中2 A+ f( T# s K/ G0 g. d8 L% X' t
已觉醒,犹如骏马之智者,远远超离平凡众。”
. _) E6 b. G1 {; b l6 [4 CA good practitioner, even living in a bustling city, can still stick to his own principles. He may6 O+ f) \# \% C. A" ~1 ^
seem lazy outwardly, always sleeping in. Yet secretly he is reading books under the bed covers,1 l" O w' W- a- D7 d
reciting scriptures, meditating, or even practicing luminary dream yoga. He is like a fine steed, far% ~# D2 \! {8 Z( j. f
better than those who brag about self-accomplishment all the time. Gendün Chöphel has this
% {) k- B) c7 B, g" z6 F; E4 Ysaying in his miscellaneous translations done in India:) D% |' c, I. H; ^* k) ]
A wise man is like a fine steed:% F( j4 s' c9 e/ n+ W# g8 b
Being ever mindful even when relaxing, g" |1 o0 @6 j! R6 u
Being wakeful while appearing to sleep.; R/ t" I% Y! x; i3 G; x' M6 r
Far superior to common folks he is.
1 G1 v% r% p2 `7 C. Z# ~晋代文学家陶渊明也说过:“结庐在人境,而无车马喧,问君何能尔?心远地自偏。”& F7 O+ T( J- i H5 V
The scholar Tao Yuanming of Jin Dynasty says in a poem:8 f9 G; \3 ?6 e C: V, m% m
In people’s haunt I build my cot;
! O- c+ N# ~9 SWheel and hoof noises disturb me not.
4 y W; `: D9 \How can it leave on me no trace?" n/ I; _+ S9 h1 }" Y! L# n5 x
Secluded heart makes secluded place." F: E1 X _ `# ^
即使把家安于闹市,却没有车马的喧嚣,为什么能这样呢?因为,一旦心静下来,环境自
% K# Q3 Z5 S5 ]" L/ q; ~然会随之而安静。身体所在的环境,往往会随因缘而变更。心若调服了,周遭的环境自然
$ a [- M# e& ?+ i$ U不会对自己有所侵害。哪怕是身居喧哗,也能如如不动。心远了,“地”自然就偏了。
) r% a& E1 Y$ T LEven if one makes a home in a bustling city, one hears not the noise coming from cars or
& Z' m% ?2 T0 D4 _/ A! xcarriages. How could that be? It is because one’s environment will automatically calm down4 q' S- A0 ?2 \* _
when the mind is calm. Our physical circumstance can be modulated by various factors. A, }7 M/ {# i# L, p, z- L
peaceful mind will render the environment incapable of making disturbances to it. Our minds
( g0 y' j+ `! T. e0 h. O& ~' c* _8 Q$ Xremain unruffled even when we find ourselves in the hubbub of the world. A secluded mind
( A- c) Q. K, v9 s8 u; R mnaturally transports us to a secluded place.7 S9 |$ D9 h& J, u9 p( S: m
