3 z: }4 b" Z+ Q# ^高望远之绝佳胜地,当地人称之为五老山。登上山巅,整个厦门市区一览无余。令人顿生( @ x8 I- l# W( v3 B9 B" o
0 g: R4 k/ T6 @( L5 F: R+ v4 h6 j“登五老而小闽”之感。
% N8 t5 w0 s5 e% U' {' g2 {# S# e$ Z1 ^7 y1 j
A small hill called Wu Lau Mountain by the locals rises behind Minnan Buddhist Academy.8 u" u" n" d9 h
. k( R5 F+ `( q& ^, ]6 oThough lacking the imposing height of those in the Tibetan snow land, it nonetheless is

considered a great local spot to hike in order to enjoy a panoramic view of the area surrounding

2 I; s. U) W3 Oit. Once at the peak and seeing the whole of Xiamen city, it’s easy to feel that “up on the Wu Lau,4 y4 t K7 y9 d

the Min Province is shrunken.”

8 c- N, t7 J8 {9 Y2 \: n7 C山上树林繁茂、绿草丛生、鸟儿啁啾、春虫呢喃,真乃一修行之好去处。8 Q9 e" S: v4 t# \
" J' c ~9 _; [3 J# W) iThis hill is lush with dense trees, green with grass, and vibrant with the twittering of birds as well& o; r5 e" X/ P: U7 E
, Q( S7 F+ K, x* {3 w1 b& m4 X6 a1 das the chirping of insects. It’s an excellent place to do spiritual practice.

Buddhist circles for his accomplishment. He has trained many monks, nuns, and lay professionals' ?- R F& l) e# E; A, j5 E, K
8 _6 S- E% G* ?8 Qwho are now carrying out Dharma activities in many places. It’s a great pleasure to have a chance: g) y# t! s# N8 f& P2 w$ s

一边品着闽南人最喜欢的“功夫茶”,一边交流心得。我谈到了藏地依止上师的方式、传

统以及前辈大德依止上师的感人事迹。感人之处,不免令其赞叹不已。我又谈到了闻思修

行不可偏废的重要意义。他感慨道,在五浊兴盛之今世,通过闻思修行建立正知正见,消

除烦恼非常重要。他的观点令我有“伯牙子期”之感。的确,佛法的真正目的是为了消除: S9 D; Y9 H/ _& W6 s& [9 \
8 [4 r* z3 m; j6 B/ _# [2 a烦恼,若不能将佛法运用于实际生活,融入自己的相续,其他一切形象上的建道场、造佛) H( w) A7 v5 S

像都是空谈。只可惜人们往往不明其理,真是令人叹息。) P& O# V' ~1 z

Sipping Kung Fu tea, the chosen beverage of Min people, we exchanged our thoughts and

' A9 v3 A. l$ q, l$ Cexperiences. I mentioned the traditions of Tibetan Buddhism, its way of following spiritual) x/ Z8 ^3 {% y
, R6 Q" d# v; }8 X, A Fteachers, and the many heart-rending stories of past great masters in this regard. We paused to- K2 a# m$ U( \ E" A
4 B7 f: {6 T9 I( [admire some of the most inspiring ones. I also stated the central role of listening to, pondering,

0 w+ Q8 g/ v, p8 f w& zand meditation on the teachings; none of them can be spared. He agreed with a sigh that, indeed% u, k" t( p, M
$ h$ K8 ]& t( P, `" W# z+ I1 }
in this time of five degenerations, it’s crucial for people to work on these three wisdom tools in ^1 `! k# Q9 m" M3 \
; y" q$ X t" Q/ s
order to establish the right view and uproot afflictive emotions. His words lent me the feeling
# _# ]8 ^. ]6 L U7 [
, ~0 C! ? V6 y. K) z% makin to Boya meeting his soul mate Ziqi. Certainly, the real purpose of Buddhism is to empower
* N/ m9 \0 I: K; B3 [0 T/ D1 Z4 P# e: c. y7 F
people to overcome confused emotions. Unless Buddha’s teachings are infused into one’s own

" p& o9 J0 {9 ]/ u9 [, i3 v0 iminds and applied to daily activities, all other feats such as building temples and erecting statues+ y8 l+ S/ n1 o" P9 S" i
4 i2 s# a& W2 P& K4 c6 V1 o6 rare but superficial and meaningless. Regrettably, very few people grasp this truth. It‘s a shame!7 j3 _4 [; @; P' m. R, @
& \& j# J) Y7 @4 S P不知不觉,日已偏西。我不得不起身告辞,但愿此生我们还能有缘再次促膝长谈。只怕世
