Turkish soldier killed, 8 injured in army base explosion

ANKARA, March 24 -- At least one Turkish soldier was killed and eight others injured in an explosion at a military facility in southern Turkey on Tuesday, the semi-official Anatolia News Agency reported.

The explosion occurred when a grenade exploded during the training at the military facility in the province of Hatay, according to the report.

The injured soldiers were hospitalized, it said.

However, no official statement has yet been released by the military authorities regarding the incident.
