One person was killed and about 230,000 people were affected as Typhoon Nida struck south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, authorities said Friday. Typhoon Nida has caused direct economic losses estimated at 137 million yuan (21 million U.S. dollars) in the region, according to the regional department of civil affairs. More than 8,500 hectares crops and 1,232 houses have been damaged, the department said. Nida made landfall at Dapeng Peninsula in the city of Shenzhen on Tuesday morning and entered Guangxi in the afternoon. |
