iPhone 6s battery quality questioned

Consumers have questioned the quality of iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus after a number of problems associated with auto shutdown and maintenance costs, reported thepaper.cn on Sunday, November 13. Some consumers complained that the phones would shut down when the battery still had 60% power left.

iPhone 6s user Li Wei said he bought his phone in October last year, and after a month his phone was shutting down automatically even when he had 20% battery remaining. The phone would not turn on until he could recharge it. Li didn't think too much about the problem and assumed the auto shutdown was because the battery was too low.

Over the course of the next year his iPhone automatically started to shut down sooner, at 20%, 40% and 61% charge left. He returned the phone to the authorize Apple retailer, only to be told there was no problem with the battery and he should simply restore the settings or undertake depot repair.

"I spent about 7,000 yuan (1,028 USD) on the iPhone and within a year's time, I need to pay another 3,000 yuan to get it repaired. I am very disappointed," said Li Wei.

Li Wei's case is not isolated. Two months after the launch of the iPhone 6s last year, many netizens complained about the phone's auto shutdown. An online group formed for the "legal right to maintenance of the iPhone 6s" with people across China joining.

"I am afraid to go out without a portable recharger in my bag as my iPhone 6 Plus often shuts down automatically during phone calls," complained Miss Chen.

The problem has also been reported overseas. An official article on Apple's website shows that the operation temperature for the iPhone is between 0 and 35 degree Celsius. According to Apple tech staff, the best temperature is between 15 and 22 degree Celsius.

With regards to the automatic shutdown, tech staff from Apple say the battery, system, mainboard and the weather may all result in an automatic shutdown. Consumers are suggested to have the battery tested, and update the system if the battery found to be work.

If the problems continue, then you need to undertake a depot repair. Consumers need to pay a maintenance fee if the phone is out of the liability period.

At the time of this article, there has been no official response from Apple in regards to the iPhone 6s automatic shutdowns.
