KATHMANDU, May 6 -- The outgoing Nepali Prime Minister and

Chairman of Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) (UCPN-M) Prachanda on

Wednesday reiterated that his party is committed to help ongoing peace process.

Organizing a press conference at UCPN-M parliamentary secretariat in

capital Kathmandu, Prachanda who resigned from his post on Monday said that his

party will help to draft new constitution maintaining people's supremacy which

will be the logical end of peace process in Nepal.

Prachanda on Monday declared resignation from his post after President Ram

Baran Yadav rejected the government's decision to sack Chief of Army Staff

(CoAS) Rookmangud Katawal.

The Nepali government led by the UCPN-M on Sunday morning decided to sack

Katawal without the coalition's consensus.

"President's decision to reinstate CoAS Katwal is a kind of "coup" and our

party wants him to scrap his earlier decision against the government," said

Prachanda.

When asked about his party's decision to disrupt the regular parliament

meeting as a part of protest against President Ram Baran Yadav, Prachanda said,

"Our party could help in formation of next government if the president took back

his decision.

Replying journalist, he added that the next government would be formed by

his party but only at the condition that President should repent on his

unconstitutional decision.

However, President Yadav on Tuesday asked other 24 parties representing

Constitutional Assembly to form a national government through political

consensus after approving Prachanda's resignation on Monday.
