SINGAPORE, July 2 -- Lu Jiateng of China dashed to win the boy's 110-meter hurdles at the 2009 Asian Youth Games on Thursday, edging out Nader Ahmed I Al Haydar of Kazakhstan at the line.

The 16-year-old Lu won in 13.96 seconds, with Al Haydar finishing in 14.12 and Wu Han-Wei of Chinese Taipei taking third in 14.52.

"This is not my best results," said Lu, who came from Shanghai, a Chinese city which the Chinese famous sprint star Liu Xiang comes from, "I could ran the race in 13.60 seconds, so the performance today is not satisfied, but I am happy with the gold medal."

"Of course, I knew Liu Xiang and I like him very much, but for me, Dayron Robles is my idol," said Lu who said he want to grow up soon to compete with Liu Xiang and Robles in the court.

Later on Thursday, Japan's Ueda Mayu claimed the girl's 100-meter hurdles title with a time of 14.18 seconds.

Park Suelgi from South Korea took the silver with 14.67 while Leong Inez Hui Xin of Singapore went third at 15.22 second.
