ISLAMABAD, July 20 -- Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) reelected Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain as the president of the former ruling party on Monday, the local News Network International (NNI) reported. Mushahid Hussain Syed was also reelected for the third term as the secretary general in the General Council meeting at the PML-Q house. NNI said the intra-party election was a one-sided affair as the dissident group headed by Hamid Nasir Chattha has already announced the boycott of elections and nobody else has announced to contest the election for these posts. PML-Q dissidents known as "Like Minded" group said the meeting was unconstitutional and that one person can not be elected for the third time. Talking to media last week, PML-Q leader Kamil Ali Agha said his party would welcome former President Pervez Musharraf if he decides to join his party instead of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). |
