Major quake jolts sea off Japan

BEIJING, Aug. 9 -- A major earthquake

measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale hit the sea south of Japan's Honshu at 6:56

p.m. Sunday (Beijing time), according to the China National Seismological

Network.

The epicenter, at an depth of 320 km, is located at

33.1 degrees north latitude and 138.2 degrees east longitude, it says.
