AMMAN, Sept. 14 -- A Jordanian prisoner arrived in the Jordanian capital of Amman Monday after completing 39 months sentence in an Israeli jail. Anas Mohammad Abu Khdeir, 29, was released Sunday from the Ramon Israeli prison, head of Jordan's National Committee for Prisoners and Missing Persons in Israel Maysara Malas told Xinhua. He was arrested in 2006 in the West Bank on charges of resisting the Israeli army. Meanwhile, Malas said another Jordanian prisoner Saad Ayesh, freed last Friday by the Israeli authorities after two years in prison on charges of resisting the Israeli army, is expected to return Jordan soon. According to the committee, there are now 27 Jordanian prisoners in Israeli jails. The committee renewed calls on the Jordanian government Monday to exert more efforts to ensure the release of Jordanian prisoners in Israeli jails. |
