Former Pakistani PM visits blast victims in Peshawar

PESHAWAR, Pakistan, Nov. 28 -- Pakistan's former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, during his visit to a hospital in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar on Saturday, expressed his sympathies with the injured of the bomb blast currently under treatment.

Sharif, chief of the opposition Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), enquired about injured persons at the Lady Reading Hospital. He distributed gifts and checks as gift of Eid to the injured persons.

During his visit, Sharif urged the people to show their responsibility toward the injured persons in their Eid celebrations.

"We all are with them in this hour of need and we should support them by including them in Eid celebrations," he said.

Sharif also paid tribute to Pakistan Army fighting against terrorism, saying that due to matchless sacrifices and action of bravery against militancy and terrorism the terrorists are on the run.

He said that the people of North West Frontier Province (NWFP) had suffered a lot during war against terror and was fighting the war for survival of the country.

He said the nation is unanimous to initiate curative action against the terrorists and the terrorists could not create "any crack in our social fabric."

"I'm hopeful that the political leadership, who have peoples' mandates, would come up for quick solutions to the problems currently facing by the people like unemployment, price hike and poor economy and above all law and order situation," said the PML-N party chief.
