Passenger plane with 132 aboard crashes in Guangxi, rescue underway

(ECNS) -- A China Eastern Airlines passenger plane with 132 people aboard crashed in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Monday, according to Civil Aviation Administration of China.

It caused a mountain fire, and the cause and casualties are unknown so far.

The Boeing 737-800NG plane lost contact on route to Guangzhou, Guangdong Province from Kunming, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Of the 132 people, 123 were passengers and nine crew.

Rescue operations are underway.
