Suicide bomber kills two, wounds six west of Baghdad

RAMADI, Iraq, March 1 -- A suicide bomber blew himself up at the house of an anti-Qaida tribal leader near the city of Fallujah on Sunday, killing two people and wounding six others, a local police source said.

"A suicide bomber blew up his explosive vest at the house of Sheikh Khalid al-Eifan, in the town of Ameriyat al-Fallujah, killing two people, including Eifan's brother," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

Eifan, who heads a U.S.-backed Awakening Council group, escaped the attack unhurt, the source said.

Falluja is part of Anbar province, located some 50 km west of Baghdad, has been relatively calm since more than a year and a half ago after Sunni tribes and anti-U.S. insurgent groups turn up against al-Qaida in Iraq network, cooperating with the U.S. troops and Iraqi security forces. ¡¡
