Political figures from around the world have hailed the Chinese path to modernization led by the Communist Party of China, saying it creates opportunities for the world and encourages more developing countries to pursue a modernization drive suited to their national conditions. They made the comments on Tuesday at an event in Wuhan, capital of Hubei province, held to showcase the province's achievements in implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. More than 170 representatives from 36 political parties in about 30 countries attended the gathering. The Chinese Path toward Modernization: New Thinking to Break New Ground — is part of events organized by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee to promote the Party's theories and practices in governing the world's most-populous country. Odontuya Saldan, vice-chair of the State Great Hural of Mongolia and chair of the Democratic Women's Union of the Democratic Party of Mongolia, said her visit to Hubei had enabled her to witness a good model of Chinese modernization as presented by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, in his report to the Party's 20th National Congress. She spoke of Hubei's achievements in poverty alleviation through an innovation-driven strategy, saying Mongolia wants to learn from China's people-centered development philosophy and its successful experiences in poverty relief. Agni Prasad Sapkota, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Center) and former speaker of the House of Representatives of Nepal, said that he was impressed by the essential features of Chinese modernization. Sapkota talked about his visit to several cities in the past few days, and said Hubei's achievements in growth, ecological conservation and cultural progress demonstrated the CPC's strong leadership. While addressing the event, Liu Jianchao, minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, said that the CPC strives to promote world peace and development. The nation will continue to create new opportunities with its new development, and provide new options for developing countries in pursuing their modernization, Liu added. |
