One woman was killed and 38 people injured on Sunday as a small plane crashed in a flight show near the city of Nuremberg, south Germany. A pilot lost control of his small propeller-driven biplane during takeoff and crashed into a group of spectators at the Lillinghof airport, about 25 kilometers northeast of Nuremberg, the local police said. A 46-year-old woman died on the spot, probably hit by the propeller. Five people were seriously injured, but the 68-year-old pilot was not hurt. The cause of the crash was still not clear, the police said, as the pilot had flown this plane for 15 years and joined the air show for 12 years. There were about 3,500 spectators at Sunday's flight show. |
