Two civilians were killed and four others injured in a Koran-burning protest launched Sunday in eastern Afghanistan's Logar province. Mohammad Darzesh, the spokesman for the provincial administration, told Xinhua through telephone that some 1,000 gathered in Baraki Barak district to protest against the Koran- burning issue which headlined in media recently. The protesters were in a bid to attack a police checkpost, said the official, adding that the police opened fire in the air to warn the demonstrators leading to casualties. Protests against the Koran-burning in many parts of Afghanistan have caused civilian casualties. |
